i like Jews. its in my cultural heritage though...
Wright says that it is his cultural heritage to dislike Jews because that was the notion he was raised under. He believed, as his peers believed, that the Jews were heathen Christ killers because of his religion. Furthermore, his cultural heritage was advanced by his incessant encounters with racism. This starts with his subtle distinction of the differences between white people and black people at a young age. He learned this in many places, including at his mothers job where he was questioned why the white people were allowed to eat when he wasn’t. This separation between races fostered a division in his cultural heritage that allowed him to have anti-Semitic feelings towards the Jews. Generally speaking, the Jews held much of the power in the relationship because they owned the store, and this also added to the separation and dislike of the Jews because the oppressed always tend to resent and dislike the oppressors for obvious reasons. As Jews were white Christ-killers, it was easy to understand his cultural heritage to hate and slander them yelling sometimes-obscene things at them.
