This was an extremely effective proposal for Universal Health Insurance because it combined many rhetorical devises a persuasive attempt to convince people of the good aspects of it. For example, it opened with the story of Ian, a recent college graduate who had come into struggles due to the bad economy. Ian could not find a well-paying job and had to reserve to waiting tables at minimum wage. The story of Ian was extremely moving because he was a college graduate and he still was not capable of achieving minimal success to get healthcare. Another important rhetorical device used in the article was the pie chart showing how many people are insured by healthcare. It added color and depth to the article that was more persuasive then simply listing out statistics. Then he explained why there is not already a universal healthcare plan in America and why it is important that one is implemented soon. This was a very good and persuasive example of a proposal argument.
